The Edinburgh Academical FC (Accies) has today announced the appointment of Phil Leck as Head Coach going into the new season.
Phil, who has a UKCC level 4 coaching qualification, coached the Scotland Club International team last season and has just completed two and a half seasons as Head Coach at Hawick RFC. Prior to moving to Scotland, Phil was on the coaching team at Sale Sharks, where he was heavily involved in skills development and identifying and supporting emerging talent.
Bob Easson, Accies Director of Rugby, said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of a coach of Phil’s calibre and experience. We are an ambitious club with a young and talented senior squad and believe Phil will draw on these strengths to create a team ready to challenge all-comers next season and beyond.”
Phil said: “I’m excited to be joining a club with Accies’ heritage and, more importantly, their heart and passion for the game. It is clear to me that Accies has a structured and positive approach to both the playing side of the game and also the long-term development of its players and infrastructure. The Club has a great pool of young, talented and committed players to develop and work with and I’m looking forward to getting to know them during pre-season and preparing them for the 2014/15 campaign.”
Phil will join the team at Raeburn Place from 1 June and will be instrumental in pre-season training.
