Officers from Police Scotland are appealing for information after a man died in a one-car road traffic collision in Edinburgh today.

Police were called to Gillespie Road in the west of the capital at around 11.40am after a car appeared to leave the road, roll down an embankment and crash into a greenhouse in the grounds of Downes Nursery.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent appliances to help stabilise the car and used cutting equipment to release the casualty. Paramedics and the Medic One fast response medical team were also in attendance but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are at a very early stage and no further details are available at this time.
