A choir is set to perform fundraising concert at Newbattle Abbey
Local choir group Cantiamo are set to perform a fundraising concert at Newbattle Abbey on Thursday, 13 March. The event, which starts at 7:00pm, is being held to raise funds for Newbattle Abbey Crescent Residents’ Association and for the Abbey.
Cantiamo is a mixed-voice singing group comprised of singers from Midlothian and Edinburgh. They perform concerts in the local area to raise money for good causes such as Marie Curie, Cancer Research and local church development funds, as well as providing a musical background for weddings and corporate events.
Margaret Cameron, who is a member of Cantiamo, said:- “We’ve known each other for about 20 years and all sing in the choir because we really enjoy doing it. We raise money for good causes whilst being sociable and meeting other community groups.”
Margaret added: “We’re looking forward to performing at Newbattle Abbey again as it is a lovely venue and we will be singing in the Drawing Room. The proceeds from this concert will be donated to Newbattle Abbey Crescent Residents’ Association to help them fund events for the local community throughout the year and we will also be helping the Abbey, who are so generous in supporting our local community.”
Lucy Caldwell, Events Marketing Officer at Newbattle Abbey, says: “We are really looking forward to having Cantiamo here at Newbattle Abbey again. The group are all very talented and we are pleased to support them in their quest to raise funds for the Abbey and Newbattle Abbey Crescent Residents’ Association.”
Tickets for the event cost ÂŁ5 and can be purchased in advance by emailing Margaret at margaret@iancameron3.plus.com
