Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information following a sexual assault in the west of the city.

The incident happened around 5.45pm on Monday 4th November in Fauldburn.

The 43 year old female victim was in the communal bin area of a block of flats when she was approached from behind by a man and sexually assaulted.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft tall, 20 to 25 years old, medium build, dark shaved hair, large dark eyes, clean shaven, local accent, wearing a grey hoodie with a zip-up front and a red/pink round neck t-shirt underneath.

Inspector Chris Scobbie of Edinburgh Division said: “This incident has caused significant distress to the lady involved and I would appeal to anyone who recognises the description, or believes they have information which could assist our enquiry to come forward.”
