New Scotland Women’s Under 19 coach Gareth Evans has selected eight  players from Hibs and one from Spartans in his first squad since taking over from Shelley Kerr, who left her post to become manager of Arsenal,  the UK’s most successful women’s club, earlier this year.

A total of 27 players will gather for a training camp at Toryglen Regional Football Centre, Glasgow, from 29-31 July.

Evans made more than 250 appearances for Hibs between 1988 and 1996, lifting the Scottish League Cup in 1991. He also played for Coventry, Rotherham, Partick Thistle, Airdrie and Alloa.

After hanging up his boots, he went on to become assistant manager at both Alloa and Brechin, before returning to Hibs as reserve team coach in 2007. He had a period as caretaker manager at the Easter Road, before moving to Livingston as assistant manager in 2011, later becoming manager.

He recently gained the UEFA Pro Licence.
