Diary of a Madman by Nikolaï Gogol

Directed by Mathilde Schennen and Assistant Director Rafael Svarin.

“Something very peculiar happened today…” A fresh, explosive and contemporary vision of Gogol’s masterpiece by a vibrant international company.

A man loses touch with reality as he confronts his own insignificance, creating a world of fantasy where he can finally exist. Nikolaï Gogol’s heart-breaking story resonates today more than ever in a society still ruled by status and power, and perpetually haunted by the threat of mental illness.

Founded in New York, NoPerks Theatre explores Gogol’s classical short story intertwining theatre and original live music, featuring members of acclaimed Swiss band Puts Marie. Deeply influenced by their experience as immigrants in New York, NoPerks Theatre seeks to express the human struggle for existence in contemporary life. After successful performances in New York, Biel and Zurich, NoPerks Theatre is bringing the show to Edinburgh.
