Brian Appleton’s History of the World in 3 Darts, Pleasance – Ace Dome, 5 to 11 August 8:10pm, £9-12
Selly Oak’s most bitter man, rock musicologist and part-time lecturer in Media studies returns to Edinburgh after a lengthy absence. Brian is the creation of Graham Fellows – the man behind comedy legend John Shuttleworth and Dave Tordoff.
Brian will be looking into some major historical moments and characters to provide answers to questions that even Horrible Histories’ writer Terry Deary couldn’t fathom! As well as performing some of his greatest hits like ‘My Turn To Be Poorly’, the song that Brian claims inspired Morrisey to create The Smiths.
Brian is a music lecturer with an unfortunate personal history as the Nearly Man of pop – always coming up with brilliantly innovative ideas, only to see them snatched away by some passing pop wannabe.
Graham Fellows own place in rock history was secured in 1978 when he wrote and recorded the punk classic Jilted John. He also received a Perrier nomination in 1992 for John Shuttleworth.
