New job club location for young people who are deaf or hard of hearing in Edinburgh

The charity Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s ‘On the Move’ project is relocating its monthly job club in Edinburgh to Central Library, 7-9 George IV Bridge. The club will run from 10.30am-12.30pm and its first meeting in the new location will take place on Wednesday 13th March. The job club is open to young people aged 16-25 from in and around Edinburgh who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The job club is part of Action on Hearing Loss Scotland’s ‘On the Move’ project which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and covers Central Scotland. It works with young people on every aspect of applying for a job such as making up a CV, job search, completing an application form as well as interview skills. To make every session fully accessible there will be British Sign Language Interpreters and Electronic Notetakers available.

As well as offering careers advice, the ‘On the Move’ project gives support on training, volunteering and accessing education. The project also runs events for young people that help them build confidence and improve their skills.

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, Employment Adviser, Barbra Wylie said,

“We are delighted to be having the job club in the centre of Edinburgh and hope that young people who are deaf or hard of hearing in the area will want to come along. Anyone who has any questions about the ‘On the Move’ project can contact me: barbra.wylie@hearingloss.org.uk or call 0141 341 5350.”
