TradFest, a vibrant celebration of folk arts was launched for the first time today by council Finance Convenor Councillor Alasdair Rankin. Supported by The City of Edinburgh Edinburgh Council and Creative Scotland, this latest festival is a development from Ceilidh Culture which featured in the city in the past.

The traditional music festival is being managed by the Scottish Story Telling Centre on behalf of TRACS (Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland). It starts properly on 24th April and runs until the 6th May 2013.

Highlights include:  Para Handy send up, Nordic Fiddlers Bloc, Beltane Fire Festival,  Irish immigration, Masked Mummers, Gaelic Edinburgh and Mayday protests across Europe.
