Marketing Edinburgh – Tonight at The Cameo – Christmas Lights switch on in Gorgie – Videos for you…. – Show us your Christmas Trees!

Lucy Bird employed to lead Marketing Edinburgh last year has resigned, apparently over the Incredinburgh marketing campaign which has attracted so much criticism. On Thursday the council decided to look again at the governance arrangements for all arms length companies set up by the council, including Marketing Edinburgh for which there is no funding or services agreement in place. A report has been commissioned and will be produced to the council in the first half of next year on this and all the other council companies.

The best headline of the day award goes to The Edinburgh Evening News for this:-

Gorgie & Dalry Community Council tell us they are switching on the Christmas lights tomorrow evening:-

“A final reminder about the Gorgie and Dalry Christmas lights switch on, this Sunday 6pm outside Gorgie City Farm. The Best Dressed Shop Window in Gorgie and Dalry will be awarded, a choir from Dalry Primary will sing sweetly to us, we can join in with a few carols and Santa will be handing out pressies to local children from his sleigh. The Edinburgh Lions will be supporting the event, and Sonia Squires will turn on the lights, as recognition for all her efforts working within her community over the years.

Every is welcome to come along and singalong, and meet Santa!”

A couple of videos for you to watch, both of which we have mentioned before but we hope they are worth watching again. The first is an animation by the mystery paper sculptor and the second is our own….

Our photo today shows you the map being made in Muirhouse by locals interested in regenerating their community and their area of Edinburgh.

We have a lonely little Pinterest board over here which needs your input. Show us your Christmas trees! All you have to do is take a photo of your Christmas tree or one you see when you are out and about and then pin it to our board…. We look forward to seeing as many different trees as we can all find in Edinburgh…

  1. Hats off to Julie Crawford for trying to encourage social activities like the “Bingo night” in her local community, the Muirhouse map is also a great idea.
