Elaine Aitken is the Conservative candidate for Colinton/Fairmilehead Ward.

Elaine told The Reporter:-“A lifelong citizen of Edinburgh, I’m married to Michael, a freelance writer and have a son, Nicholas. My political career began as the late Councillor Brian Meek’s agent for 2 years before being selected as the candidate for Fairmilehead in 2002.

Subsequently I have served as a Councillor for 9 years:

2003 – 2007 Fairmilehead

2007 – present Coilinton/Fairmilehead Ward

 

I am currently the Group Secretary and, as an office bearer, I sit on the Group Executive.

Greenbelt land behind Buckstone Grove

Greenbelt land at Morton Mains

I have made representations at Council Committees on the reductions of the 11 and 18 bus services, issues related to the speed reduction measures in Buckstone and many more important matters.

As a full time Councillor, I can make use of my previous work experience of the private sector and extensive knowledge of the voluntary sector.”
