He served as Executive Member with a variety of portfolios including ‘Business Management and Communications’, ‘ICT and Smart City’ and ‘Educational and Care Standards’ in the Council Administration 1999 – 2007. Since 1999 he has also been the Chair of a number of organisations including the Edinburgh and Lothian’s Tourist Board and Chair of the Edinburgh International Science Festival.
Since 2007 he has fought for local people as Chair of the South West Neighbourhood Partnership. He is a member of the Board of a large number of local groups and organisations such as the Broomhouse Centre and the Gorgie City Farm.Wilson has led many local campaigns since 2007, including ones to save the Gorgie War Memorial Hall, the Longstone Prison Officers Club and the Dalry Baths. He is presently gathering signatures in a petition for CCTV in the Telfer Subway.
A frequent visitor to Planning representing constituent’s views, he has fought both in favour and against developments reflecting local opinion. He claims that his record of dedication and hard work on behalf of the Sighthill Gorgie Ward is second to none.
