The Edinburgh International Magic Festival is once again bringing cutting edge magical theatre to the masses from 29 June – 6 July 2012.
This summer, Edinburgh will open its doors to the most innovative and amazing live performers from around the world, giving audiences the opportunity to enjoy breath-taking magical experiences. Magic is the Art of the Impossible; it shows you the world in a wonderfully diverse way and challenges you to see things differently.
Last year’s festival received rave reviews and brought live magic to more than 5000 people. This year’s festival programme officially launches at the end of April and will be a mix of Classic Magic, Close-up Magic and Mind Reading. In response to last year’s sell-out Magic & Variety Gala Opening night, there will be an afternoon Gala preview, giving you the opportunity to see many of the world’s finest magicians for just £10.
MagicFest, Managing Director, Svetlana McMahon says, “We believe magic is at its best when seen live on stage with your own eyes, and ticket sales show the public agree. Half of the evening tickets for the Magic & Variety Gala Opening night on 29 June have now gone, which is a tremendous achievement considering we have yet to announce the line-up.”
No-one played truant from Magic School last year and it proved so popular, that this year’s MagicFest will have a brand new five day programme for kids aged 7-10 years old. We can ‘reveal’ that pupils will be taught by a special celebrity guest teacher from BBC’s “Help my supply teacher is Magic” – John the Magician!
MagicFest, Artistic Director, Kevin McMahon added, “Magic is the dream that any impossible challenge can be overcome. MagicFest aims to inspire the audience in every show and to spotlight the Art of Magic like no other event on a national scale.”
Immerse yourself in the extraordinary world of mystery and illusion from the 29 June – 6 July. Be amazed, see things differently and “unbelieve it” at the Edinburgh International Magic Festival 2012.
