Are you an aspiring photographer? Do you have what it takes to convey one of the world’s grandest arts festivals in striking images?
If so, get in contact with the Edinburgh International Festival, which is on the hunt for an emerging photographer to become the official Festival Photographer for 2012.
The role will involve exclusive opportunities to explore behind the scenes at the Festival, attending rehearsals and social events, meeting artists and capturing the dynamic, lively character of the Festival over three weeks from 9 August to 2 September.
It’s an exciting opportunity for an aspiring photographer to develop their craft, and to witness up close the work that goes on to make the Festival possible. The results of the successful photographer’s work will also be showcased in a special exhibition in The Hub in autumn 2012.
Eoin Carey, official Festival Photographer in 2011, said: ‘I was provided with access to the venues and theatres, and given carte blanche to document the development of the Festival as I saw it. It was both a monumental experience and a tremendous privilege. On a level of professional development, this placement has been unparalleled. It offered front-line experience working with the media and has acted as an incomparable opportunity with which to build my portfolio and career.’
To be considered for the position, simple send a sample of your portfolio and a covering note to Susie Burnet by Friday 17 February. Interviews take place on Monday 27 February, and second interviews will be a practical exercise on Festival 2012 launch day, Wednesday 14 March.
