Edinburgh’s Caledonian Hilton has recently appointed a new senior management professional to its operations team.
Monica De Castro will take up the role of Director of Operations at the hotel, which, following a £24m investment programme, is set to join the Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts portfolio next year as The Caledonian, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

 

With over ten years of experience in the hospitality industry, De Castro has held several managerial positions within the group’s portfolio including revenue manager at Hilton London Islington and conference and events business manager at London Hilton on Park Lane.

 

In her new role, De Castro will co-ordinate the service delivery of all operational departments in order to meet and exceed guests’ expectations as well as manage and develop all heads of department within the hotel.  In her most recent position working as director of operations at Hilton London Canary Wharf, King achieved great success rates including surpassing hotel targets and increasing hotel revenue.

Speaking about the new job, De Castro said:- “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Caledonian Hilton Edinburgh and look forward to using my past experience in the industry to continue to build on the success that Caledonian Hilton has already achieved.”

 

Announcing the appointment, Willy Blattner, general manager of Caledonian Hilton, said, “We are delighted that Monica will be joining the Caledonian Hilton team as director of operations.  Monica has already established a fantastic reputation within the industry and our company and she will be an extremely valuable addition to the hotel during our conversion to a Waldorf Astoria Hotel.”

 

The Caledonian Hilton Edinburgh is situated on Princes Street in Edinburgh’s West End and has been a focal point in the city for over 100 years. The hotel is home to extensive conferencing and banqueting facilities as well as The Pompadour restaurant which offers unique Scottish cuisine using the finest locally sourced ingredients.
