We are not really making any excuses for showing you more of our fireworks photographs. We try hard to take all our own photos which you can see here on the website, or on our Flickr Photostream. Greener Leith have an interesting article about the possibility of stopping the Leith Biomass project once and for all. Apparently Forth Ports who are thinking of building the plant have advised Malcolm Chisholm MSP that they will only pursue their planned development in Leith after they have built elsewhere such as Grangemouth.

 

Anyone in the city centre yesterday might have heard the drone of an aircraft passing overhead a few times. It seems that it was a military aircraft transporting a serviceman circling to get rid of fuel before landing. According to The Edinburgh Evening News there was a problem with the wingflaps meaning that the aircraft had to land at Edinburgh Airport, which it did safely.

The Scotsman reports that the ticket sales for the Edinburgh International Festival have dropped by 3.3%, but the Festival Director Jonathan Mills has claimed that the Festival has made a profit nonetheless.

Locals in Shandon will be sampling the best of local and regional produce this Saturday.

Shandon Local Food Group is hosting its second local food fair in Polwarth Church on Saturday 10 September, from 11am-2pm, featuring farmers and producers from the Lothian and Borders region.

Gavin Corbett of the Shandon Local Food Group said:-“Our first event back in March was a huge success even at what many would see as the leanest time of year for local food.  This time we are back at the most bountiful time of year so I am sure hundreds of people will again come through our doors.As well as the stalls from producers, we have demonstrations and tasting, information tables and displays and a barbeque.”
