On Thursday 24 February 2011, Stevenson College Edinburgh is holding a drop-in information session at the College in Sighthill from 4pm to 6pm, to provide information on the Professional Development Award (PDA) in Youth Work.

The PDA Youth Work is a part-time course which has been designed for people who work with young people in a community learning and development context, providing activities, support or guidance.  The course is aimed at those who have experience of youth work in a paid or voluntary capacity, but who do not have a formal qualification in youth work.

Kate Just, Programme Leader at Stevenson, said:

“A key aspect of helping young people to fulfil their potential as individuals is to ensure that those who work with young people – whether volunteers, paid, part-time, or full time staff – have the necessary support to do their job. Many people working in this sector have invaluable experience. However, we find that formalising their knowledge through gaining a qualification contributes hugely to their job performance.”

The information session will give those who may be interested in applying for the PDA Youth Work the opportunity to speak to lecturers and discuss the programme in more detail.
