On Thursday 24 February 2011, Stevenson College Edinburgh is holding a drop-in information session at the College in Sighthill from 4pm to 6pm, to provide information on the Professional Development Award (PDA) in Youth Work.

The PDA Youth Work is a part-time course which has been designed for people who work with young people in a community learning and development context, providing activities, support or guidance.Ā  The course is aimed at those who have experience of youth work in a paid or voluntary capacity, but who do not have a formal qualification in youth work.

Kate Just, Programme Leader at Stevenson, said:

ā€œA key aspect of helping young people to fulfil their potential as individuals is to ensure that those who work with young people – whether volunteers, paid, part-time, or full time staff – have the necessary support to do their job. Many people working in this sector have invaluable experience. However, we find that formalising their knowledge through gaining a qualification contributes hugely to their job performance.ā€

The information session will give those who may be interested in applying for the PDA Youth Work the opportunity to speak to lecturers and discuss the programme in more detail.
