Cami Brown, Glasgow Tigers’ team manager, said he was “over the moon” with a dramatic Super Heat victory at arch rivals, Edinburgh Monarchs, in the Cab Direct Championship.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers snatched the aggregate bonus point after the tense clash ended in a 45-45 draw at Armadale and the result arrived seven days after the sides had tied 45-45 at Ashfield.
Tigers were four points adrift at 41-37 with two races left in the meeting at the West Lothian track. Kevin Juhl Pedersen won Heat 14 with Monarchs’ skipper, Paco Castagna second and Mitch Cluff third for a 3-3 scoreline.
Ice cool Nick Morris and Chris Harris then teamed up for a 5-1 in the final regular heat to tie the scores at 45-45 and they took the Superheat grab the glory. Brown said: “That’s a fantastic win from the boys.
“It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for the club, but nights like this make it all worthwhile.”
Brown added: “To be six down with two races to go a week ago, and six down with one corner to go of Heat 14 at Armadale, and still come away with a couple of points is incredible.”
He praised Morris for his performance. The Berwick Bandits star powered to 15 points to top score for the Allied Vehicles-backed comgine on the night.
Brown said: “We’ve been unlucky with guests recently, but for Nick to get a maximum is phenomenal. That was possibly the most complete performance you could ask for. We can only thank him for his commitment.
“Likewise, Reid Battye (another Berwick rider) was excellent on his debut at Armadale. Both Reid and Nick made themselves part of the team, and that made a big difference.
“There were other terrific performances. Chris Harris was typically outstanding. He made some fabulous passes and was brilliant in the big races.
“Special mention goes to Kevin Juhl Pedersen. We were a corner from losing the meeting in Heat 14 but he never gave it up and got the win on the line that kept us in it.”
Overall the Glasgow boss said: “It’s a great couple of points to win on the road and it is always a special feeling to walk over to the huge contingent of Tigers fans on the third bend and celebrate with them. That’s always a great moment.”
