As funding continues to be a constant challenge for charities and community groups, the city’s library service has stepped in with an offer of practical help.

City Strategies and Edinburgh Libraries aims to help groups having difficulty in finding funding by providing access to a free database. There organisations will find details of funds available to charitable organisations in the capital.

More than £3 million of funding has been raised by Edinburgh-based organisations through Edinburgh4Community since it was launched.

Edinburgh4Community provides an easy way to search through hundreds of Government, lottery, charitable trust and other funds. It also provides full guidance on how to apply for grants and other monies.

Edinburgh Libraries are actively promoting the service in a bid to help communities who could benefit.

A spokesperson for the service said: “Perhaps you work with an organisation who you think might benefit from additional funding, or maybe you volunteer at a local good cause – Edinburgh4Community could help them.”

Locally based small community, voluntary or charitable organisations or small and medium social enterprises with a turnover under £1 million per year. can access the free service through the Edinburgh Libraries website
