The participatory budgeting scheme in Leith – which is a model for spending part of the Visitor Levy funding – closes for applications on 12 October.

All funding applications must be made by constituted bodies which can ask for up to £5,000 for a project on the theme of Greater Leith Harmony.

The deadline is 23.45 on 12 October 2026.

The Leith community will vote on 23 January 2027 to choose which applicants are successful. The online voting will continue until 9 February 2027 and the Awards Night will take place on 18 February 2027.

Leith Chooses explain that ‘Greater Leith Harmony’ is about cultivating a sense of belonging, celebrating our varied backgrounds, and creating welcoming spaces where Leithers from all walks of life feel valued and connected to their community. This theme also acknowledges that the community of Leith is bigger than Leith Walk and the surrounding streets. (It also includes Leith Links and Seafield, and parts of Lochend, Calton/Hillside, Abbeyhill, Broughton, Bonnington and the eastern edges of Trinity and Newhaven.

All applications are online this year, but if you have difficulty with the form below, please contact Leith Chooses on 07743 167 340 or [email protected]

Remember that the application window closes at the end of 12 October. Time moves fast, so we suggest you start working on your application as soon as you can.
