A 23-year-old man who struck a police officer with a stolen vehicle on Dumbryden Gardens has been jailed for three years and nine months.
The incident took place on Friday 6 December 2024 as officers attempted to stop the vehicle which had been reported as stolen.
Lewis Mackie was found guilty on Wednesday, 4 March, 2026 at the High Court in Edinburgh. He was sentenced on Wednesday, 1 April, at the High Court in Inverness.
Detective Inspector Alan Sharp said: “Mackie’s actions resulted in an officer requiring hospital treatment. Such attacks on officers who are carrying out their duties are wholly unacceptable.
“Officers work to keep the public safe and any violence towards them will not be tolerated.
“We will continue to take action against anyone who harms officers while carrying out their duties.”
