The latest intake of recruits swore the oath of constable as they joined Police Scotland today, Thursday, 24 September, 2026.
The 183 probationers marked the start of their policing journey at a formal ceremony in the organisation’s training headquarters, Tulliallan.
Assistant Chief Constable Wendy Middleton addressed the latest cohort who were then issued with their warrant cards, granting them legal policing powers.
She said: “I thank our new recruits for stepping forward to serve our communities with integrity, fairness and respect.
“They are signing up to a hugely rewarding and demanding career where people will turn to them for help, often in the most critical and vulnerable circumstances.”
There are 119 males and 64 females in this latest intake bringing officer establishment to 16,582.
They will start deploying to communities on Monday, 8 February, 2027, to continue their two-year probationer training programme.
Among the cohort, 24 of them speak nine additional languages and 12 have previous military service.
