Police officers have stopped numerous drivers following an operation on the M8 last week.
The operation was in response to recent complaints from road workers, operating within the contraflow, on the M8, between junctions 3A and 4, regarding motorists travelling at speeds, in excess of the reduced speed limits.
Roads Policing officers deployed to this area, on Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th of March 2026, to carry out speed checks, enforce relevant legislation and encourage motorists to comply with the reduced speed limits.
Numerous motorists were warned regarding speeding. One man was arrested after failing a roadside drug wipe. Officers identified that one of the tyres on the vehicle, that he was driving, was bald and had cord exposed.
He will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for having contravened numerous road traffic act offences. The vehicle was also prohibited from use on the road, until the identified defects are addressed.
A spokesperson said: “The reduced speed limits are in place to protect road workers, please observe and comply with them.”
