Hibs wing-back Chris Cadden, insists the players were ‘hurting’ after last night’s 2-0 defeat to Motherwell at Fir Park.

After a slow start, a period of 15 minutes which saw the hosts score twice and Hibs reduced to 10-men, proved to be costly and they were unable to get a foothold in the game.

Tawanda Maswanhise and Elijah Just scored for the hosts, with Grant Hanley seeing red – giving Hibs a huge mountain to climb in the second half.

Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Cadden shared his thoughts on the result and performance.

“It was a difficult night. They played well, but we gave ourselves an uphill task from the outset.

“From the standards we set at the start of the season, we were nowhere near those standards. We’ve not lost a lot of games recently, so we’re hurting in there.

“We didn’t start the game well, we were on the front foot on Saturday – but we weren’t tonight.

“The start wasn’t good enough from our perspective, we’ve got to be better than that – we know that.

“It’s a big period for us coming up. We will dust ourselves down, digest it and try and learn from it. It will be tough, but we need to move on. We’ve got no time to feel sorry for ourselves, we’ve got a big game at the weekend and a big run of games coming up over December.”
