Hibs head coach David Gray believes his side “fully deserved” all three points after defeating St Mirren 3-0 under the lights last night.
Goals from Josh Mulligan, Chris Cadden and Miguel Chaiwa at the SMiSA Stadium ended Hibs eight-game winless run against the Buddies.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Gray was quick to praise his side following a strong win at a tough ground to visit.
“I’m delighted. Delighted for the players. I think they fully deserved that win tonight.
“It’s something coming here, a real tough place to come, and to win 3-0, keep a clean sheet, at a real important time of the season as well. Going into that international break challenged the players to make sure we go into this break in the best possible position, which is three points tonight.
“I spoke a lot about the fine margins and for us, the penalty a few weeks ago, you look at Kieran Bowie being just offside against Livingston, they were big moments in the game,” Gray added. “It hasn’t quite gone for us on occasions, but tonight, the decisions went for us in terms of being just offside at big moments within the game.
“And then on top of that, we were a lot more clinical tonight. And then even then, as the game went on, I thought we did create a lot more chances on the break as well. So all in all, really pleased with that. I said before, there’s a lot more to come for the group. We believe that.
“I’m seeing it a lot of the time. But we just need to keep working hard, keep working on these areas all the time. And we can go into the international break now in third position. We certainly have something to build on for the next round, if that’s the case.
“I’m really pleased. I said to players before the game, it’s the one team we’ve not beat yet under me. So all the times we’ve played against St Mirren, they’ve all been really tight games. They’ve always forced you to defend, we even seen that tonight.
“I think we did get big goals at big times. We sort of made it a little bit more comfortable. But all in all, I think the players were really good value for it tonight and fully deserve it.”
