Ageu is back in training as pace-setting Hearts prepare for Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with defending champions, Celtic, at Tynecastle (noon).
The Brazilian midfielder, full name Eduardo Ageu Almeida Santos, has been sidelined for several weeks following his signing for a club record E2.3 million from Portuguese combine Santa Clara on a four-year deal.
Fans who travelled to Livingston saw a cameo performance by the 23-year-old midfielder before he was injured.
Right-back Christian Borchgrevink (pictured right in training by Nigel Duncan) logged some minutes in a midweek bounce game leaving only defender Frankie Kent, goalkeeper Ryan Fulton and midfielder Finlay Pollock on the long-term injury list.
The Jambos lead the 12-strong Premiership table with 22 points from their eight games and they defend their unbeaten record – seven wins and one draw – against The Bhoys who are five points adrift after having played the same number of fixtures.
McInnes told the media at the pre-match briefing at The Oriam that another three points were available on Sunday and he and his players were looking forward to the challenge.
Hearts, he argued, are going to have to find their best form to subdue the champions but added: “We are in a good place and, hopefully, we can get a result.
“You are going to have to play really well to get anything out of the game. We recognise that Celtic will be a tough game for us, they have a top manager, top players and have spent money on the squad and we have our work cut out on Sunday to get a result.”
McInnes again said that wanted to come to a club with ambition but stressed that the league season was only eight games old. The former Aberdeen and Kilmarnock boss added: “We have to make sure our performance gives us a chance.”
