Lifelong supporter, Lawrence Shankland, has been named as captain of Rangers after his close season move from Hearts where he was also captain.
The 30-year-old Scotland striker succeeds long-serving skipper, James Tavernier, and the confirmation came ahead of Friday’s William Hill Premiership, campaign opener, at Dundee United (20.00).
Derek McInnes, Rangers’ manager, who also arrived from Hearts after guiding the Tynecastle team to runners-up spot in the Premiership last term, appointed Shankland.
It must be a huge honour for the Glasgow-born player to skipper his boyhood favourites and a tremendous accolade for a forward who excelled at Hearts.
