Midfielder Tomas Bent Magnusson warned there will be no complacency as the Men in Maroon travel to Stenhousemuir for their quarter-final clash in the Premier Sports Cup on Friday (19.45).

The Iceland-born player has had a thorough briefing on the Larbert-based outfit and is aware of their strengths and potential weaknesses.

He said: “I know a lot (about Stenhousemuir) now after analysis, they are a team on Astro and are doing well in their league and beat Motherwell in the last round of the (Premier Sports) Cup.

“We should treat them as a proper opponent.”

The 24-year-old said the late victory over Dundee in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday at Tynecastle was really important for the club and he said: “It was a game we had to chase and it was good to get that type of game. The win was amazing and we will try to keep that going.”

Looking back on the season so far, he felt the 1-1 draw against Benfica at home was a key game as it proved Hearts are a decent side.

Hampden awaits the winner of the Premier Sports Cup tie and he said: “That is something we want to do, go to Hampden, and it is one win away. There is a lot up for grabs and it will be amazing to get through.”

He admitted to being disappointed not to make Hampden last season and acknowledged that having a decent run in the cups would be good for the squad.

Overall, Magnusson said: “We have had to deal with a lot of injuries in midfield, and there is always a man ready to step-up and do the job.”
