Demarco fundraising event
Richard Demarco’s archive must be rehomed in view of the impending sale of Summerhall. At present some of the archive housed there has been damaged beyond salvaging by water damage. Buy a ticket for the fundraising dinner at Prestonfield to save his archive and move it somewhere more suitable here.

Volunteer with Hidden Door
Hidden Door Festival is holding a big birthday party next month at their new venue The Paper Factory at Maybury. Anyone interested in some DIY to transform the site into “something magical” is invited to get in touch and become a volunteer. Further down the line the charity, which holds pop up festivals in different venues each time, will need security and other volunteer staff.
Why volunteer?
As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:
- Work with an experienced team and learn new skills, or flex your existing ones
- An opportunity to get involved in the local arts scene, working with a great line-up of artists and contributors
- Be a part of the Hidden Door team, make friends and meet new people
Plus we’re a charity – so you’ll have fun whilst also helping a worthy cause!

Candidates confirmed for by election in Colinton/Fairmilehead
Twelve candidates are standing in Colinton/Fairmilehead – a three member ward where the existing places are held by Conservative councillor Jason Rust and SNP’s Marco Biagi. The third place is vacant as Scott Arthur has been elected to Westminster.
Read more about the candidates here – where our interviews will begin appearing soon.
If you are a candidate and have not yet been interviewed then please get in touch. And if you know of any hustings being held in the area then please let us know. There were none held during the General Election.
