Hibs new loan signing Hyeokkyu Kwon cheered on Celtic at Easter Road last Sunday, but this weekend he will be supporting Hibs at Parkhead.

The defensive midfielder put pen-to-paper on a season-long loan deal earlier this week and he says that he is eager to meet the Hibs fans.

As Hibs take on his parent club, Celtic, this weekend, the 23-year-old will have to wait a little longer to play in-front of the supporters but he admitted they played a big factor on why he decided to join the Club.

“I know Hibs is a very great club in Scotland. I’m very happy to join this club,” he said when speaking to Hibs TV.

“I heard that the Hibs support is amazing, and that the stadium is really nice.

“Last week I watched the game against Celtic, and I was supporting Celtic, but now I support Hibs.

“This weekend’s game will help me understand more how Hibs play and means I can see my teammates’ movement.”

Since signing on Tuesday (13 August), the South Korean under-23 international has been putting in the hard yards at HTC to make sure he can hit the ground running in Hibs green and white.

“The first few days I’ve been very tired because training is very tough, but my teammates are very kind. They speak English slowly, so I’m very happy!

“The Scottish Premiership is very physical. In pre-season I developed my physicality, so I’m looking forward to this season. I want to show my 100% performance and ability.

“The St Mirren gaffer taught me many things, which was very helpful for me. Now I can develop my abilities here at Hibs.”
