This Is Our Story takes you on a journey through the last 150 years of Heart of Midlothian FC, celebrating the legacy and triumphs of the club.
It’s on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from August 8 to 12 (7.30pm) with matinees on August 9, 10 and 11 (3.30pm) and the show will be performed with live music on a custom-built stage in Tynecastle Park. Tickets are from £10 to £27.
The story begins in 1874 when members of the Heart of Mid-Lothian Quadrille Assembly Dance Club decided to have a kickabout at the East Meadows.
Heart of Midlothian FC were born and the play tells of the early years of the club, establishing itself in the Gorgie area of Edinburgh, and the successes that were interrupted by the Great War.
It continues through the through the post-war period and into the winning heyday of the 1950’s, the lows of the 60’s and 70’s, bridesmaids yet again in 1986 and cup success in the 90’s, plus the rollercoaster ride of the Romanov Years in the new millennium.
Then there was a close call with administration and the blossoming back from the brink.
Two Halves Productions are behind the show and they return for their sixth Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It is also their fourth collaboration.
Lianne Parry, head of heritage, Heart of Midlothian FC, said: “As someone who was brought up as a supporter, had the honour of wearing the Maroon and White for 17years and has retained a love for Heart of Midlothian FC, like many others, I can’t wait to see the show.”
