The Soundhouse Winter Festival will include a mix of jazz, traditional music, and weekend workshops, all featuring artists from or based in Scotland.

Onsale from today (Friday 12 July) are award-winning singer/songwriter Megan Black whose music mixes 70s blues rock combined with queer feminist pop; Indie band Dominic Waxing Lyrical performing with string ensemble Mr McFall’s Chamber; and rock n’ rollers Callum Easter and the Roulettes who will close the festival at the Queen’s Hall on Monday 2 December.

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Callum Easter thrives on impulse and spontaneity, and has an impeccable song writing craftsmanship that makes even the more unconventional moments of his soul punk/rock ‘n’ roll music instantly arresting.

Callum tours regularly with Young Fathers and this concert sees him returning home to Edinburgh, fresh from a tour of America playing songs from his current album with his band the Roulettes.

Dominic Waxing Lyrical’s return to the Traverse stage will include the launch of his new winter themed album Diminuet featuring long term collaborators Mr McFall’s Chamber.

The show will include new songs and some old favourites, threaded together with a spoken word performance by Dominic, inspired by the Welsh epic poem Y Gododdin. All under the direction of celebrated Scottish dramatist David Greig.

Megan Black has toured the UK, played King Tuts, the Troxy in London and festivals and shows in California and Lisbon. Her music serves as a community for those seeking empowerment and positive change and focuses on themes such as feminism, mental health and LGBTQ+ community, addiction and climate change.

Douglas Robertson and Jane-Ann Purdy, co-producers said:“Last Fringe we accidentally hosted a full run at Edinburgh’s Rose Theatre. This featured a wealth of musical talent all from artists from or based in Scotland.

“It was loved by audiences and critics alike. So we thought, why not repeat the experience? But not in August!

“The Soundhouse Winter Festival will be five nights spread over the St Andrews Day weekend.

Today’s onsale announcement is just a taste of what’s to come and we’ll be back with the full festival programme in September.”
