The postal votes are already in the hall and being counted at Ingliston where the Edinburgh count takes place.
There are 530,000 people living in the capital and 375,712 people are registered to vote in this election of which 103,581 are registered for a postal vote – only 72,664 were actually issued at the last election in 2019.
There are 825 people working at the count in Ingliston directed by Paul Lawrence the new council Chief Executive and Returning Officer.
