A defiant message has been sent out from The Tally Ho,  Winchburgh’s unique pub, which has just held, for the second year running, its  community based, Star in the Park event.

Turning its outside space, to the rear of the venue, into an events space for all, up to 250 local people were treated to a fun filled afternoon featuring a huge Bouncy Castle Assault Course, with free kids activities, including stalls and facepainting.

Those attending were invited to enjoy, if they wished, a special Tally Ho BBQ menu. Extra seating was provided in marquee space, with additional seating inside the Pub’s airy and light filled interior.

“We are absolutely delighted with how the event went,” said Manager Craig Clapperton. ”We are proving that traditional public houses, like us, that also offer food,  can still be the busy heart of the community, catering for families, catering for couples on afternoons out, catering for everyone really. Pubs are a gathering point, a place in which to socialise. They provide something vital that a local community does not want to lose.”

“Our sister business, The Polton Inn, in Lasswade, just hosted an entire Gala Day too, so well done to them!”

“We’ve always made our offering here at The Tally Ho very family friendly,” continued Craig, who operates The Tally Ho with Assistant Manager, Aimee O’Malley. “Our food and drink is as affordably priced as we can make it, with sharing options and wee plates, which cut down on the costs for a group getting together to eat out.”

A Chippy Tea menu, popular with families and senior citizens who may like a bit of company whilst they eat, costs from just £7 for suppers. Cooked breakfast is from just £8.95, with Brunch sandwiches from only £7.

The Tally Ho has increasingly become a “destination”, with cyclists following the Union Canal along and back, with the pub as a welcome stop off for a bite to eat and a drink.  Members of a local boat club are also now using the Pub as a gathering point.

Craig finished by saying that he and Aimee were currently putting together a year round calendar of events.

“If any local residents have any ideas for events that they would like to see The Tally Ho host, please let us know, particularly if you’d like to arrange a fundraiser – we will be delighted to assist. Our staff are predominantly locally based, and know the area inside out.”
