Ian Harper is standing for Reform UK in Edinburgh South West, and he lives in Livingston.
His main inspiration to join a political party for the first time has been the “eye-watering” corruption he has witnessed in the last four years. But he was emphatic about the reason for joining the Reform UK party. He said: “I looked at the Reform Party and every single policy spoke to me.”
Ian told The Edinburgh Reporter that he is a gas engineer and was keen to speak about energy and the effect it has on the cost of living. But he denies that climate change is anything more than cyclical weather. He said: “I know there are 440 parts per million CO2 in the air that we breathe – that’s 0.04% of the air that we breathe. But 97% of that is made by mother Earth. What are we going to do when we have the oceans that cover two thirds of the globe. What are we going to do about the CO2 created by the oceans or by the forests. Only three per cent of that is man made. This to me has been a money making venture.”
