The festive football schedule is upon us, and this means there’s plenty for fans to look forward to in terms of Premier League action from December 23 right through to New Year’s.

This includes the first Christmas Eve fixture, as Chelsea take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Another game that’s sure to attract a lot of attention is West Ham vs Man United at the London Stadium on December 23, as Erik ten Hag’s in-form side try to close the gap on the top four while the hosts also look for a win to put them back in contention for the European spots.

As the buildup for the busy festive season, and this match in particular, starts to gain traction, let’s delve into four players — two from each team — who have the potential to make a significant impact in what could prove to be a crucial encounter for both sides.

James Ward-Prowse – West Ham

James Ward-Prowse’s proficiency in set-piece situations is a potent weapon for West Ham.

The midfielder’s ability to deliver precise corners and dangerous free-kicks poses a constant threat to opposing defences.

Ward-Prowse’s vision and passing range also make him instrumental in dictating the tempo of the game.

Against Manchester United, his dead-ball expertise could unlock defensive doors and provide West Ham with crucial scoring opportunities.

Scott McTominay – Manchester United

It could prove to be an enthralling battle in the centre of the park, as Scott McTominay’s tenacity and work rate in midfield provide a solid foundation for Manchester United.

Known for his box-to-box style of play, McTominay contributes both defensively and offensively.

His ability to break up opposition attacks, win aerial duels, and make late runs into the box makes him a versatile presence in the middle of the park.

Against West Ham, McTominay’s combative style will be crucial in establishing control and tempo for Manchester United — and on current form, he might even be worth backing to score if you have any betting offers

Jarrod Bowen – West Ham

Jarrod Bowen has established himself as a dynamic force in West Ham’s attacking ranks.

With the ability to beat defenders, link up play with his teammates, and contribute with crucial goals and assists, Bowen adds a layer of unpredictability to the Hammers’ offensive manoeuvres.

His energy and creativity in the final third make him a key component of West Ham’s strategy.

David Moyes will be delighted to have him back from his recent injury troubles, and Bowen’s capacity to exploit spaces and trouble Man United’s leaky defence could be a decisive factor.

Alejandro Garnacho – Manchester United

Alejandro Garnacho, a rising star in Manchester United’s ranks, brings youthful exuberance and attacking flair — as he displayed with his recent overhead kick against Everton.

Garnacho possesses speed, skill, and a natural instinct for goal-scoring that make him a real danger on the left flank for the Red Devils.

As a promising talent eager to make his mark, the clash at the London Stadium once again offers Garnacho an opportunity to showcase his abilities and potentially provide another spark for Manchester United in the attacking third.
