Daytona 500 – This ones for the motorsport fans out there, as November brings the end of the racing season for Formula 1 which has exploded in popularity there will be many fans hoping for something else to fill the gap. Taking place in February, the Daytona 500 is one of the biggest races in the calendar year and certainly worth checking out even if you’re not a big fan of NASCAR or oval racing. Australian Open – Another event that gets going in February, and a great start to the Tennis season too. It’s one of the first major events that happens in the new year and it’s not only a kick start to the tennis season, but also a kickstart to major sporting events in general. It’s a great way to see which players may be looking on form for the year, and which may be looking to have a tough year ahead of them.

English Premier League, Boxing Day Games – Whilst much of the season happens earlier in the year before the player break, the English Premier League does continue throughout the colder months of the year as well. For many football fans, it’s a Christmas tradition to tune into the boxing day games played in the Prem and this year will certainly be no different, it’s a bit earlier than some of the other major events that take place, and although it’s just a few games on one day, it’s a great way to stave off the other missing events.
