A group of seven Edinburgh women artists will stage an exhibition in August.

The collective floral art exhibition, Florescence, will be on show in The Life Room Gallery, 23b Dundas St, EH3 6QQ.

The exhibition will run from 3-8 August 2021 and will be open each day between 11am and 6pm.

The exhibition will feature framed paintings (oils, watercolours and acrylics), greeting cards and prints for sale all with a flora theme. All seven artists have committed to donating 10% of any painting sales to the charity Trellis which supports therapeutic gardening projects in Scotland.

During the week there will also be a series of floral painting demonstrations by several of the artists, again based around a flower theme.

One of the artists, Louise Marks, said: “We are delighted to be presenting this collective floral art exhibition. The floral world inspires all seven of us artists everyday either in our studies or en plain air.”

Another Lesley Skeates said: “We are seven Edinburgh women artists united by our love of painting. Over the last 18 months exhibitions have been cancelled and other opportunities for selling our work have been restricted. The idea for this group exhibition of floral art sprang from our desire to encourage each other and unite in a group venture. We hope that the subject matter brings some colour and joy into people’s lives once again.”
