There was good news for Hibs’ fans yesterday as both Stevie Mallan and Sean Mackie took part in a bounce game against Livingston at the club’s Training Centre at East Mains.

Mallan who was voted the club’s player of the year in his first season suffered a knee injury against Hearts on Boxing day last year and has not played a competitive game since.

He was on the bench for the first team against Motherwell last Saturday and is now hoping for a place in Jack Ross’ plans for Sunday’s game away at St Johnstone.

Mackie played for James McPake’s Dundee on-loan last season but suffered a broken foot and has been recovering from that injury.

Livingston won the match 3-0 with goals from Aymen Souda, Rafa de Vita and a Tom James own goal.

Hibs fielded a strong side containing several first-team regulars who have not featured much this season.
