The UK Government has opened applications for a second and final income support grant for people who are self-employed.
Self-employed people who have been adversely affected by Covid-19 can apply for the grant which will cover up to 70% of their average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment covering 3 months’ worth of profits.
The scheme opens today and you can make applications from tomorrow until 19 October 2020.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the UK Treasury have provided £7.8 billion in grants to support self-employed workers.
Scottish Conservative MSP, Jeremy Balfour, has encouraged self-employed people in Edinburgh to apply for the grant, saying:“This has been an extremely difficult time for self-employed people in Edinburgh and it is important that all those who are eligible are made aware of the support that is available to them.
“If you are self-employed and have been adversely affected by the ongoing pandemic, please make use of the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme and apply before 19th October.
“Self-employed workers are the backbone of our local and national economy, and the UK Government will continue to do whatever it takes to support those who work for themselves to get back on track and trading.”
