Ruth Nicol will give a talk on a new exhibition ‘Leith in Spring’ at Open Eye Gallery on 9 February at 11.00am.

Following on from her 2010 exhibition ‘Leith In Winter’, ‘Leith in Spring’ reflects on the ever-evolving historic port of Leith, where Ruth herself resides.

Focusing on day-to-day routes taken ritualistically, this exhibition showcases Leith’s urban and industrial landscape, the paintings suggesting elements of movement and transience despite the absence of human activity.

The informal talk will offer insight into the exhibition’s semi-autobiographical stance, documenting Ruth’s passage from being an incomer to Leith and its community to becoming a fully integrated ‘Leither’.

To attend, email the gallery mail@openeyegallery.co.uk or T 0131 557 1020. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
