Fingal launches today berthed in the Port of Leith.
Fingal is the newest hotel in town. She is a unique offering as she is a boat : the sister ship to The Royal Yacht Britannia no less. There are 23 cabins and luxurious public spaces for dining and entertaining which are bound to prove a hit with tourists visiting the capital.
We last saw Fingal during the 2016 Edinburgh Art Festival when she was dressed as a ‘dazzle ship’, but now after a £5 million project she has been completely overhauled into a luxury boatel.
The former Northern Lighthouse Board Ship has cabins named after Stevenson lighthouses, inspired by her maritime heritage. There is a luxury cabin with private deck, a duplex cabin with living space or the stunning Skerryvore suite with extensive outdoor space to relax and entertain. The finishes are all carefully chosen with polished woods and nautical notes, Scottish leathers and finest linens accord with colours inspired by Fingal’s past.
Launched in 1963 the ship was the last to be built by Blythswood Ship Building Company in Glasgow and she patrolled waters off Oban keeping lighthouses there and their keepers in order.
Fingal was originally registered in Leith so she has come home to begin a new life on the waterfront.
Stay onboard Fingal from £300 per night based on two people sharing, including VAT and a full Scottish breakfast. Reservations are now being taken for stays from 7th January 2019. For bookings, please call +44 (0)131 3575000.
