Hibs-daft Hamish Imrie is currently making an impact on top men’s hockey in Germany since his move from Holland.
The free-scoring 22-year-old is regularly finding the net playing in midfield for Hamburg-based Harvestehuder THC who are due to celebrate their centenary next year.
Head coach Christoph Bechmann must be pleased with the 22-year-old Scot who has found the net on six occasions since the start of the season.
And the Scottish international striker has scored regularly in the Bundesliga despite moving to midfield as the German side have a number of quality strikers.
Imrie, a former Fettes pupil, has made a remarkable recovery after suffering two cruciate knee problems in each knee which have put him on the sidelines for two years in all.
He paid a flying visit to Edinburgh last weekend and took in his former club Grange’s 3-3 draw with Uddingston.
And he admitted to loving life with the Hamburg club who have won the national title four times and the Euro Hockey League, EuroHockey Cup Winners’ Cup.
They have also four four German indoor titles and the EuroHockey indoor Club Cup on four occasions.
Imrie lives at the club and they hope to improve on last season’s fourth place in the tough domestic competition.
The talented player said: “I scored in six of seven games at the start of the season but have not scored in our last three games.
“I’ve also scored in every Hamburg derby I’ve played in and I’m really enjoying playing hockey there.
“It is a great club and we have a real mix of players from countries like South Africa, Australia, England and Austria, to name a few.
“They switched me to midfield as they have a number of strikers and I’m really enjoying it as I am finding space coming late into the D.
“It’s early in the season and we have a long way to go but we train really hard and our diet and weight are watched regularly.”
He added: “The club want to win trophies and I want to be a part of that.”
