Hibs’ goalkeeper Adam Bogdan was happy with his performance in last night’s 1-1 draw with Asteras Tripolis in Greece but he insists that all that mattered was the team’s progression to the next round.
The on-loan Liverpool keeper produced a superb display in front of a jubilant travelling support and rightly earned plaudits from Head Coach Neil Lennon.
Time and again Bogdan denied the Asteras players demonstrating why he earned a big money move to Liverpool and has 20 caps for his country as well as being named Hungarian Player of the Year in 2012.
Injury has hampered his career but last night’s performance shows that he is back to his best.
Hibs now face Motherwell at Easter Road on Sunday before Molde arrive next Thursday in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
After the game Bogdan told Hibernian TV: “All that matters is that we are into the next round. If you look back at the game you can see that it wasn’t easy.
“I haven’t played for many months but now I am picking up pace and I am really happy that today I reached the level that I always want to reach.
“Since my journey, it’s been a long journey and my task is to keep up to this level and hopefully I can help the team as I did today although we should have managed the game better and made it harder for them. We were one-nil up and one man more but it looked as though they had one man more.”
“We can enjoy ourselves today and think about the memories but the games are coming thick and fast in Europe and that’s what we want. Everybody in the squad needs to be ready.
“Let’s hope this journey continues but Sunday is the start of the league
“The fans were amazing and I am sure they are going to have a good night.”
