Pianodrome
In Summer 2018 Tim Vincent Smith who is an artist and his team will build an amphitheatre in the Botanics entirely made from discarded pianos.
#Pianodrome is a part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival which needs your help. This project will bring art, music science movement and creativity under one geodesic does roof. You can join in to create artistic interventions and build experimental instruments.
There is a Geodome Workshop and an Instrument Making Workshop aimed at families. Using 88 keys from a piano you will be shown how to make unique geodesic artworks which you can take home with you. But you will also take part in the larger project to create a unique artwork to grace the Pianodrome when it is completed.

A Celebration of Women in Astronomy
On Wednesday 11 April 2018 join Prof Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, first female president of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, who is an astrophysicist best known for her discovery of pulsars, considered to be one of the greatest astronomical discoveries of the twentieth century.
She will tell the stories of several remarkable women in astronomy, and reflects on the position of women in astronomy worldwide today. At Summerhall.

Capture the Sun with a Six Month Pinhole Camera
This workshop on 9 April 2018 is for Ages 10 +/.
You will work with science inspired artist Nick Sayers who will help you make a long-exposure camera from a tin can.Accompanying adults who wish to take part in the hour long workshop need a ticket too.
Build Your Own Zoo
From 9-12 April there are activities at the zoo between 11am and 3pm for those over 5. You will be helped to make your own zoo from clay and be one of the first to try out a digital video game created exclusively for RZSS Edinburgh Zoo.

This day long event rounds off the Science Festival beautifully as it allows creators from Edinburgh and elsewhere to really show off their talents!
