EuroHockey Indoor Championship, Division Two (women): Pool C: Scotland 3, Lithuania 5 (in Brussels, Belgium).
Coach Chris Anderson was disappointed yesterday (SUN) as Scotland slipped to a 5-3 defeat to Lithuania in Division Two of the European Indoor Hockey Championship but still avoided relegation to Division Three.
The Dundee-based playcaller had urged his squad to lift their game against Lithuania in a crucial clash in the EuroHockey indoor Championship, Division Two, in Brussels.
But the Lithuanian side raced to a 4-2 lead after the first-half and held out to win 5-3 leaving Scotland in second bottom spot in the four-strong pool.
A Scottish Hockey spokesman confirmed that Scotland escaped the drop into Division Three.
He said: “As there were only three teams in C Division this means that only one team is promoted, therefore one team relegated from B Division.”
