Edinburgh Capitals top scorer Marek Tvrdon has been released from his contract for personal issues.
The club, who are bottom of the 12-strong Elite League with only four points from 16 league games, are now looking for a replacement.
Capitals travel to ninth-placed Braehead Clan on Saturday before hosting second-bottom Dundee Stars on Sunday, both matches in the Elite league.
The club said Tvrdon’s departure was due to a family health issue.
Tvrdon, a former National Hockey League draft pick by Detroit Red Wings, joined in the summer from HK Nitra in Slovakia.
The winger netted 11 goals and claimed ten assists in 18 appearances and a spokesman said: “Marek needs to be living and playing close to home at this time and he departs with our best wishes.
“For the club this presents another challenge which we will seek to address.”
