Edinburgh City 1 Stirling Albion 2
Ladbrokes League Two, Saturday 4th November 2017 – Ainslie Park
A much-improved performance from Edinburgh City wasn’t enough to prevent The Citizens fall to their sixth successive defeat, five of which have come in the league.
On-loan Falkirk striker Scott Shepherd put City ahead in the 18th minute with a magnificent strike and the home side then spurned two glorious opportunities to increase their lead. However, goalscoring has been a major problem for City and they were to rue those missed chances. The Binos Ross Kavanagh levelled the score eight minutes from half-time when he turned in a cross from Albion’s on-loan Hearts winger Callumn Morrison, who impressed throughout.
Eight minutes into the second half, it was role reversal for the visitors when Kavanagh set up Morrison who fired past City keeper Calum Antell for the winner.
It was another hard luck story for Edinburgh City who, nonetheless, gave the League Two leaders a run for their money and could consider themselves unfortunate not to take a point from the game.
City’s trialist centre forward was former Hibernian and Dunfermline striker Farid El Alagui.
City remain in second bottom position in Ladbrokes League Two but must be confident of climbing up the league on the basis of this performance.
