Edinburgh Capitals will be minus captain Michael D’Orazio for Wednesdays home Elite League clash with Sheffield Steelers (7.30pm).

Defenceman D’Orazio suffered concussion after a check to the head in Sunday’s home league fixture with Manchester Storm.

And forward Taylor Stefishen, a former National Hockey League draft pick, is struggling with an undisclosed leg injury.

Bottom-markers Capitals have lost their last two league games and have four points from the same number of fixtures.

Sheffield are second in the table with 12 points from ten games and are four adrift of early pace-setters Manchester Storm. They will not want any slip-ups.

Elsewhere, misfiring Braehead Clan entertain Nottingham Panthers on Wednesday (face-off 7.30pm) in Challenge Cup, Group A fixture after their confidence-sapping 5-1, Elite League defeat at Fife Flyers on Sunday..

Clan are second in the four-strong group with two points from three fixtures but have lost their last two games.

Nottingham also have two points from three games and the fixture is crucial with Sheffield Steelers topping the group with four wins from four games. Manchester Storm are bottom of the section with two points from four starts.

Sheffield have already qualified for the quarter-finals along with Belfast Giants and Fife from Group B and Milton Keynes and Guildford Flames from Group C.
